College!

Yep, thats right! This girl is going to be starting college! I am SO SO excited about this new adventure. Like stupid crazy excited!

I plan on going to school to get my Bachelors Degree in EC-6th grade!

I have always thought about being a teacher, but after growing up with a mom who taught, for 33 years, I just wasn't sure I wanted to do it. I knew how much work it was and how much heart she put into it and I just really wasn't sure I could comment to that. Or if I even wanted to comment.

I have always regretted not going to college, I know I missed out on a lot, BUT and thats a big BUT if I had it to do all over again I would't change a thing! I love my life, I love my husband, and I love my kids more than anything. And not having those experiences are totally worth it to me, because with those I wouldn't have the family I have today.

This is something I have felt like God is leading me to and I am ready to take on the HUGE task! I am planning on starting classes after the frist of the year so I do have a little time to prepare and get things in order. I am just going to start out taking classes at our local community college and then transfer to a university after I graduate from there.

YAY!!

Valentine's Day

We had a pretty low key Valentine's Day, just how I like it! :) I am not a huge fan because I feel like love should be celebrated everyday.

Rilan requested red heart shaped waffles for breakfast, so that is what we had for breakfast.

That afternoon Rilan had his Valentine's party at school so I was able to go and help with that while Zoey went to work with Daddy.

I got to the school a little early and was able to watch the kids write and learn about the Statue of Liberty. Rilan had to show me his work!

I have never seen such a wild group of kids! :) There are 22 kids in Rilan's class and I feel like there was about that much sugar in pounds there for the party! They played a quick game of bingo, then decorated sugar cookies with icing and sprinkles, and lastly they broke into 3 groups, one played pin the lips on the heart face, one played bowling, and the other looked at their Valentine sacks. I think Rilan had a blast!

Rilan and his friend Kate, and Ori jumped in! Rilan and Kate are always exchanging letters to one another. Its SO cute! She draws him hearts all the time. She is such a sweet sweet girl!

For dinner we just stayed at home and had a meal as a family. I picked up steaks, baked potatoes, and salad. I started the salad and baked potatoes, and when Dax got home he threw the steaks on the grill. They were probably the best steaks I've ever had at home! It was probably one of the best Valentine's ever! I love my sweet family so so much!

The night before Kindergarten

As I sit here tonight I am still in shock that Rilan is starting school tomorrow! Almost 6 years have flown by, and I'm just not ready to let my baby go. But I know that he will love school!

Tonight he went to bed so happy and excited about the future. We read Twas the Night  Before Kindergarten. Such a cute book! We also read a little poem his teacher sent home with us on meet the teacher night. It had "magic confetti" in it to put under his pillow to help him sleep tonight. I hope it works!

Mommy loves you so much Rilan! I hope you have an AWESOME first day of kindergarten!

My baby is growing up...

I am still having trouble wrapping my brain around the fact that Rilan is starting school in just 4 day! It seems like yesterday we were bringing him home, hoping we could figure out this whole parenting thing.
He is such a sweet, kind, and helpful little boy. Who really isn't so little anymore. I know that he is going to have a blast learning and meeting lots of new friends at school.

If you have any words of advice for us I'd love to hear from you.

Glass Kitchen Canisters

I bought some glass jars months ago planning to put some vinyl on them and kept putting it off, but today I finally finished and I LOVE the way they turned out.

Who knew vinyl could make something so simple so cute! I wish I could take credit for the cuteness but I actually got the idea from this blog. I loved the style of the jars but didn't like how big they were, I was so happy to find a smaller version at Wal-Mart.

Anyway, I used my cricut along with SCAL to design and cut the labels. They aren't exactly straight but I really don't think anyone will notice.

While I had my cricut out I decided to go ahead and label Rilan's pencil box for school. He was so excited about it, I was too until I realized I put it on backwards! Guess I'll get to redo that one! ha!!

(Font for jars is Vanilla Twilight and Rilan is Mandingo)
